Detailing Your Car

Automotive
If you're like me, you certainly will not be able to stand up when people in your car with fast food or something messy item, such as shoes muddy. You know, the things that make you dizzy if you must clean up all of that. Some people are care about the car. After all, they more than likely spent a ton of money.

For most people, buying a car is the first major purchase that they’ll make. Buying a house is usually the second major purchase. So, it’s no wonder that after buying your first car that you’d want to work hard to keep it clean. For some of us, keeping our vehicles clean is a little more difficult because life throws us many distractions such as children, odd or long work schedules, business trips, etc. However, you should always make time to take care of the vehicle that gets you around.

It’s in the Details!

Detailing your car is exactly what it sounds like. You are basically taking your car and paying close attention to every detail. Typically taking care of the exterior of your car will include things like:

- Washing and waxing your car
- Checking the tire pressure as well as tire tread wear
- Making sure all fluids (ex: windshield washing fluid, brake fluid, etc.) is filled
- Changing your oil (if necessary)

Interior Details

Not to discount the exterior of your vehicle, but the outside of your car will inevitably get dirty and scratched over time. It is still good to keep it as clean as you can, though. However, since the interior of your vehicle is where you will typically spend the majority of your time, this is where you’ll want to focus the most attention. You’ll need to get some cleaning supplies first such as car wipes, a microfiber cloth, a vacuum, a garbage bag, glass cleaner, upholstery cleaner, and an air freshener (optional). Next, there are some general steps that you should try to follow:

1. Throw it Out- Take everything out of your vehicle. This includes everything that is buried in your glove box. Put it somewhere (preferably in a bucket beside the car) where you’ll be able to access. After you’ve finished emptying all of the junk out of your car, go through each item and determine whether or not you really need it. This can be decided simply by thinking about the last time you actually used it. If you don’t need it, chuck it.

2. Windows- Using the glass cleaner, spray the solution on the windows, and using the microfiber cloth, go over the window so that it is streak free. Typically, you’ll want to start with the front windshield and work your way to the back.

3. Wipe it Down- Using your cleaning wipes now, wipe down all the plastic or vinyl areas of the car such as the dashboard, steering wheel and door handles, etc.

4. Vacuum it Out- After everything has been wiped down, go ahead and vacuum everything out.

5. Remove Stains- After you’ve vacuumed, examine your vehicle for any stains. If there are any, use the stain remover to remove them.

Increasing Automotive Performance

The amount of fuel consumption of a car is always related to the automotive performance of the car itself. However, the performance of a car can be increased in certain ways without negative influence on the gas mileage of a car. Below are some tips:

Performance chips: Computer chips that operate most new cars these days keep track of how much horsepower and torque can be displaced. Using performance chips or recalibrating the current chip used in a car can help in increasing the torque and horsepower to a great extent.

Cold air Intake: Power of a car engine can be increased if the temperature of the air that enters the car can be reduced. An under the hood modification in the form of cold air intake can help in this. Such an enhancement also beautifies the engine bay by making it colorful and attractive. Such a unit will also make an appealing sound.

Reusable air filters: Throughout the life of most of the cars, about 6 to 12 auto air filters are used without facing any problem, but when not in use most of them end up at the landfills for waste materials. Even though reusable air filters cost thrice as much as normal air filters, they are washable and last much longer than the regular ones. In fact, when you buy a reusable air filter for your car, it is actually the last one you will be ever buying for it. These air filters help you to increase acceleration and horsepower, besides having a very positive impact on the environment.

Performance exhaust systems: Another way to unleash horsepower, trapped up torque, and improve the overall automotive performance is by using “catalyst-back exhaust systems” (cat-back) for cars. Such a system installed in a car reduces exhaust back pressure by using low restriction performance mufflers and large width exhaust pipes while keeping all the important emission parts in their proper place. In addition to better performance, the exhaust system emits awesome sound.

To improve the automotive performance of your car, you may have to bear additional costs. While shopping online for the auto aftermarket products always opt for a trusted wholesaler. That way you will be able to acquire good quality automotive parts at very low prices. The auto aftermarket products/ services for increasing automotive performance of cars include accessories, replacement parts, appearance products, lubricants, various tools and equipments required for repair and service repairs. If you do the shopping yourself, you will be able to save a lot.

In 2008, the auto aftermarket had done better than in 2007, with a total sale of $285.5, which is a 4% increase from the previous year. In the light truck and car section alone the auto aftermarket experienced $211.4 billion sales while in case of heavy duty vehicles the aftermarket sales figure stood at $74.1 billion.

Understanding How Your Car s Anti-lock Brakes Work

Every modern car is the main focus on a Safety system. With innovations including airbag, head rest and seat belt, the risk has been reduced to levels that were unfathomable decades ago. Along those lines, an electronic control system including the development of anti-lock brakes (ABS). They prevent your vehicle's from locking the wheels when braking, an event that will cause you to lose control and crash potential.

If any of the tires on your vehicle lock up, your car will start to skid; it will become very hard to control. On the other hand, if your tires are able to maintain contact with the pavement, they'll provide the level of control you need to maneuver your car. This article will explain how the components of your braking system work together to prevent your wheels from locking.

Anti-Lock Brake Components

Your vehicle's anti-lock brake system has four basic components; they include the pump, sensors, valves, and controller. The pump is responsible for putting pressure on the brake pedals and stopping your car. The valves are responsible for releasing the pressure. When combined, these two assemblies create the rapid flutter of the brakes that prevent them from locking.

The second two components of the system are the sensors and controller. Immediately before a lock-up, the wheels decelerate very quickly; the sensors are able to recognize this change and act accordingly, relaying the information to the controller. In turn, the controller activates the valves and pump to control the brakes, thereby preventing your vehicle from skidding.

Anti-Lock in Action

In the event of a lock-up, the controller interprets the information from the sensors and identifies your car's deceleration as too severe for a standard braking situation. In response, the controller releases the valves which cause the wheel to accelerate slightly. The subsequent pumping action applies the necessary pressure to cause deceleration. This cycle, performed multiple times per second, causes your wheels to slow down at the same rate as your car without locking up.

Anti-Lock Varieties

There are three main types of ABS assemblies, but the most effective is known as a four-channel system. In this type of system, each wheel is independently monitored and controlled for maximum stopping power. Three-sensor setups are common as well. In this layout, the front wheels are independently monitored and controlled while the rear axis has its own independent sensor and valve.

Lastly, the single-channel design uses a single sensor-valve combination on the rear axle. This is commonly used in pickup trucks but is flawed because the wheel has to lock up first before activation while the other two systems act preemptively.

A lot of drivers mistakenly believe that vehicles equipped with ABS offer superior stopping ability. In reality, there are other factors, such as slippery roads and weather, that should be considered. Automotive technology will continue to advance as automakers strive to offer more protection to drivers and passengers. It is likely that today's braking systems will be significantly improved in the future.

Mazda To Launch A New Green Line-up

automotive
Initially they claim wouldn't be enter the 'green motoring' market, Mazda has now had to do a u-turn and start talking about their plans to launch a new line-up consisting of both electric and hybrid vehicles.

Mazda have suggested that the new hybrid line-up will consist of cars with both diesel and gasoline engines thus catering for a wider market. The new cars are set to have improved fuel economy which will in turn save the customer money.

The new 'green' line-up is expected to debut at the 2009 Toyoko Motor Show. Mazda's main aim is to offer affordable transport that is environmentally friendly and a 'step ahead of current hybrid offerings' - so it will be interesting to see the outcome.

The new vehicles are likely to include the innovative stop-start technology and be far more aerodynamic as Mazda will try to save fuel wherever possible.

It seems as though Mazda have finally decided that the green route is the one to take. Initially there was a lot of apprehension when it came to 'green cars' but gradually people have become far more aware of the damage cars can cause to the environment and they seem to want to do something about it. It also helps that green cars are fuel efficient and can save you money when it comes to running costs - especially in the current economic climate when we are all trying to stretch our money as far as possible.

Another benefit of environmentally-friendly cars is that you will be paying far lower tax - so more money can be saved here too.

One of the initial problems with green cars was their appearance - they weren't the most attractive of cars, however car manufacturers really seem to have upped their game when designing 'green cars'.

Take the funky little Citroen C1 or the near-identical Peugeot 107 for example, both offer great fuel economy, fall into the low tax band and are good for the environment and on top of that they look good too - you can't really go wrong!

These two cars have become more and more popular over the past few months and I for one have been noticing more of them driving through the town.

It now seems as though Mazda are following their lead and hoping to break into the hybrid market. Mazda have said also stated that electric vehicles will be introduced to their line-up by 2015 so watch this space!

Cadillac Betting on New Entry Level Model, Redesigned STS

automotive
The Success of the redesigned 2008 Cadillac CTS is been enormous for GM's luxury brand, but to survive in the future will depend upon an all-new entry-level caddy, and a redesigned flagship STS.

Speaking with The Detroit Bureau, a GM executive has revealed that the Detroit automaker has been forced to rethink its luxury car strategy because of the disappearing acts of Hummer, Saab, Saturn and (most of) Pontiac - and the beneficiary will be, of course, Cadillac.

Without "as many mouths to feed", as Premium Channel marketing chief Steve Shannon puts it, GM can focus more of its precious resources on revitalizing Cadillac. Though the transformation began with the success of the Escalade, it has only recently been cemented with the debut of the redesigned 2008 Cadillac CTS.

The most important of GM's upcoming models will be an all-new sub-CTS entry, a small car that will "reach the market probably in 24 to 30 months", Shannon says. The baby Caddy has to ride on a flexible platform, as GM is looking to get the biggest bang for its buck: it is considering sedan, wagon, 3-door hatchback and convertible variants for the new car.

The soon-to-be smallest Cadillac will replace the BLS (pictured), a European model that has been largely shunned in that market. Although the BLS is based on the Saab 9-3 platform, Shannon says the replacement model will be "a proper Cadillac with a dedicated architecture and content". He said several different powertrains would be offered - including a diesel for Europe that could eventually make it to the U.S. - but was mum on details beyond that.

The other model currently being readied is a redesigned STS. The former Cadillac flagship has been largely invisible in the large luxury car market, and has been completely overshadowed by the recent success of its younger CTS sibling. Shannon admits that the current STS is too small, and was never very distinguished from the only slightly smaller CTS.

"Spaciousness, in that segment, is critical", says Shannon, saying that size will definitely be a factor in STS redesign. Differentiating the STS from the CTS in terms of design, content and price will also be a focus. Shannon wouldn't offer a timeline for the emergence of a new STS.

Have You Already Driven A Suzuki?

Automotive
Almost a decade and a half of experience in new Suzuki vehicle and used cars sales in Peterborough, Ontario area, Del Mastro Motors has a long experience in educating the public about Suzuki. People looking into buying Suzuki for the first time are occasionally a bit unsure of what the ownership experience will be like. Prospective customers can be put at ease with a simple fact: Unbeknownst to them, they may have driven a Suzuki before. Suzuki has a long history in designing cars for other companies. In fact, some of the most popular cares of the last few decades have been rebranded Suzukis.

General Motors is the largest, best-known Suzuki client in North America. Suzuki has produced 18 different cars for GM’s markets around the world. The first Suzuki-made GM vehicle was 1985’s Chevrolet Sprint economy hatchback. This car was actually a rebadged Suzuki Cultus. GM would continue to sell its own Cultus variations until 2001, under the names Pontiac Firefly and Geo Metro. Canadians should know that after 1990, most of these cars were actually made in Canada at the joint Suzuki-GM CAMI Automotive plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

Similarly, Suzuki designs spearheaded the mini/crossover SUV market. The Geo Tracker line consisted of Ingersoll-manufactured Suzuki designs – the same designs used in the Sidekick and later, the Grand Vitara, with some minor features and styling added to maintain a distinctive feel for each brand. Like the rebranded Cultus, these vehicles relied on a mix of import quality standards and domestic style and branding, and tradition that the CAMI plant carried on even with newer models such as the Chevy Equinox.

Many customers are surprised to learn that they’ve already driven a Suzuki-designed and manufactured vehicle. At authorized new Suzuki dealerships like Del Mastro Motors, representatives are increasingly showing customers that hey already know about Suzuki’s signature design characteristics, and can better help them identify what they like about them to get them into the right vehicle, straight from the source.

Fuel efficiency and the uncertain future of the North American auto industry have brought more customers to Del Mastro and other Suzuki dealers. In many cases, consumers aren’t sure whether their domestically branded car is going to get reliable service when the manufacturers themselves are on the brink of bankruptcy. Suzuki Motors looks better able to weather the storm than some of its Detroit-headquartered counterparts. The company owed much of its stability to a diverse presence in worldwide markets, including a presence in the rapidly growing Indian automotive market. But Canadians interested in buying domestically no longer need to be wary of the Suzuki brand, which has made a home for itself in the country, where it sources quality parts from Canadian companies. Even in the midst of a recession, consumers can be confident that Suzuki will be there to support their vehicles into the foreseeable future. Authorized dealers like Del Mastro Motors look forward to introducing Suzuki cars to buyers – or reintroducing them to the quality they already know.

Salvage Cars are Very Popular Nowadays!

Salvage cars are very popular Nowadays due to many reasons such as; the prices are cheaper, the whole process not need require much time as buying a used car, cost as much as buying new cars.

Of course, as with any other thing on the market, there are several difficulties, and in this case, there can be found many more downs than ups. Yet, for example, if you have enough money put aside and need to buy a car fast, and you do not worry that much about possible quality problems, for more details visit to www.auction-words.com then salvage car auctions are the thing for you.

For example, let us assume that you want to buy a car for your son, since he has not got that much experience as a driver it may be safer if in the beginning he would own a cheaper car and learn how to deal with small possible problems that may appear.

Of course, a salvage car can be great if you want to buy a second car for your or your family, because you can get it cheap and fast, because everybody needs at some point a new car for their family.

As mentioned before, the biggest advantage with salvage cars (and obviously, salvage cars auctions is that they are very cheap). Most of the times these cars are very cheap because they need to be sold right away and the buyer is more willing to offer a smaller price than bargain for a huge price.

This way, at auctions, in some cases, the final price might meet the ideal price for the seller, but most of the times, it will be under his price. Therefore, if you are low on money and need a car fast, if you can find a salvage car auction somewhere near you, it would be a great idea to take advantage of the situation.

The second great thing about these salvage car auctions is that because of the buyer's rush to sell the car; it will not take anybody's time. Practically, it is only a matter of days after you were announced the winner of the auction until you will actually have the car in your hands to drive it with all the papers written.

Of course, with salvage cars it is more difficult to tell if they are real quality, meaning that while at a used car dealer you can spot many faults in the car's system by discussing with the dealer, driving the car, for more details visit to www.auctions-profits.com carefully examining it on your time. It is harder to do that at an auction because there will be many people there trying to do that, and everybody seems to want to find something out, and get in your way.

Yet, there is a solution to people who are too afraid to a buy from these kinds of auctions - they can buy the car for body parts. Repo vehicles can be used as spare parts for your own car, and this way save a lot of money with possible purchases.

There is no doubt that one who would own a Mercedes-Benz, would definitely have that sense of pride within or even on the exterior side. It gives one the power, the prestige all that the same time.

The New Ford Technology

Ford Motor not only create most modern hybrid vehicles but they also work to provide the best in safety features for those vehicles. There is a new array of "active" crash-Avoidance technologies that will be introduced into this year by driving prototypes into large, car-shaped balloon to help customers from the accident. Engineers at the Dearborn Development Center use these balloons to test the company's new adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support technology. The consumer requires some technology that was created in order to help avoid the danger of unexpected failure of the cruise control or brake support failure. This is only a few of the many new safety features that are currently being reviewed and improved to loyal customers.

Ford Motors plans on introducing the system on the 2010 Ford Taurus, available in the fall 2009, while Lincoln is announcing the new system will be offered on the 2010 MKS, adding to the Lincoln flagship sedan's long list of available technology. One of the many newer technologies is the parallel parking active park assist that makes it easier for the consumer to park without touching the steering wheel. Along with the adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support to warn drivers of possible hazards in front of them and assist them in reacting earlier Ford Motors believes this will improve sales for the newer vehicles. Ford Motors is using radar in order to monitor the area in front of the vehicle which should help to drastically reduce major accidents by the careful driver.

The newer safety features developed by the Ford Motors Technology division are things that other automakers will want to take a good look at and perhaps they too will install similar technologies in their vehicles. The idea is to save the consumer not only on gas mileage but to implement a vehicle that is not too expensive to repair. The high cost of repair bills is driving the profitability down for insurance companies but it is also putting a strong dent in the pocket of the consumer. No one wants high repair bills on a vehicle because it is poorly constructed and by implementing safety technology this will make the consumer much friendlier when it comes to buying the newer hybrids. The government takes a look at what "The Big Three" automakers are doing with the funds that they will be getting.

As the world grows, auto makers are going to become more advanced over it's lifetime. From safety features to make it safer for you to newer features in the car that make it more convenient for you and your family. It's amazing to look back on everything in the past and see how far car companies have come today. Just think of what's out there right now and think 10 or even 20 years down the road from now. No matter what kind of car you step into, you're going to find that you're going to be driving in a wonderful piece of technology.
